The Drama of Sunset #Watercolor #WorldWatercolorGroup #Strathmore

We continued using quick studies of low horizon skies to explore different triad pigments in yesterday's Watercolor class.  I used Sennlier Blue Indanthrene, Primary Yellow and M Graham Quinacridone Rust on Strathmore Aquarius II paper.

We are also exploring how to get your pigments to glow by letting one layer of color dry completely before adding the next.  I discovered that Blue Indanthrene is far more staining than I expected, and as a result, I got hard edges that I had thought I'd be able to soften by lifting a bit.  I think it works for this sky though, so I'm happy.
