With zentangle, you lay out a string--sections to be filled with tangles. Well, when you create handmade cards or scrapbook pages, and often when journaling it is a good idea to have a layout in mind as well.
Sketch Support is a blog with layout templates for making cards, scrapbook pages, and journals. Many of the layouts could also be used as strings for zentangles, especially if you curved the lines instead of keeping them straight.
