Review-The Beauty of Zentangle, Inspirational Examples from 137 Tangle Artist Worldwide #Zentangle, #Zendoodle #BookReview

At last! I received my copy of 'The Beauty of Zentangle'.  Other contributors have been receiving their books all week, and I've been all agog with anticipation.  You can imagine how thrilled I was when I opened the door and found my copy on the welcome mat.

Each contributor received a beautiful certificate and a copy of the book.

So what could I do but review?  Take it as a given that I love the book.  I'll try to keep my enthusiasm down, and let you decide for yourself whether it's the right book for you.

Specs
Cover: Cardboard with fold-in flaps
No of Pages: 184
Size: 11 x 8.6 x 0.4 inches
Weight: 1.7 pounds

Look and Feel
'The Beauty of Zentangle' is more of a coffee table than a reference book.  Its size and weight would make it cumbersome to carry around.  It lies flat enough that the pages won't spring shut on you, so if you find it difficult to hold while reading, you can easily put it on the table and flip through the pages.

The book is printed on high-quality gloss paper that won't age easily, so it's made to last.  The colors are gorgeous (though slightly off-true) and the artwork is amazing.

There are 37 new tangle step-outs, an introduction to and brief description of the tangle process.  More time is spent exploring what Zentangle® is, but the bulk of the book is filled with examples from the 137 contributors.  If you are already a zentangle enthusiast you will likely recognize many of the contributor's names.  If you aren't an enthusiast, you may well be after reading this book!

Overall
'The Beauty of Zentangle' is a beautifully done book.  If you are specifically looking for Zentangle instructions or a workbook style publication, this won't be your first choice.  If you want an introduction to Zentangle, some new tangles and a gorgeous gallery of Zentangle art this is the book for you.  It would make a great gift.

For some, the 37 tangle step-outs will be worth the price.  I have seen a couple of these tangles posted online, but I believe that most of them are new.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of 'The Beauty of Zentangle' and a contributor's certificate because I was a contributing artist.  I have received no other recompense.  I was not asked to do this review and all opinions are my own.  Any mistakes are mine.

  4. AWESoME!!! Congratulations! I did not know you were not CZT. Your work is as beautiful or more so than alot of certified teachers I've seen. I'm interested in learning all I can about Zentangle and would love to get certified but I can't afford to fly to RI for a week to become certified. It's nice to know that just because you don't have the CZT behind your name, that your BEAUTIFUL art is highly sought after!!! (did that even make sense what I just wrote? haha)
