Each Wednesday for 22 weeks, I'll be sharing artwork that was done on paper from a Schut Papier sampler. I'll be giving you a little information about each of the papers.
Schut Papier Salland Printmaking Paper, Warm White, 50% cotton,50% cellulose,300 gm2/140 lbs
PH Neutral, Acid-free, chlorine-free. Good for printmaking--copperplate, etching, silk screen printing and lithography, but also good for watercolor and drawing.
I don't do much in the way of printmaking, so I decided to try fountain pen and watercolor for my tests.
The paper has a fairly smooth surface, more like a hot pressed paper than a cold pressed. The tooth feels somewhat gritty to the touch. Although the weight is 140 lb, it felt more like a 200 lb to me, due to the stiffness of the paper.
The outcome of my tests:

- The Paper:
- can be folded almost edge to edge with crease or cracking, but does retain curve
- when creased, gets slight radiating lines (not bad for a paper this stiff and heavy)
- Fountain Pen friendly--
- no bleed-through
- no show-through
- no feathering
- colors are bright
- lines were very crisp
- ink dried quickly
- ink flowed easily
- Watercolor:
- washes move well
- pencil lines don't soften into paint
- hard lines form easily
- colors are bright
